US steel service center O'Neal Steel Inc. has acquired the assets of fellow American steel service center, Denman & Davis, O'Neal Steel said Monday.

"Acquiring such a well-respected and successful company as Denman & Davis gives us an immediate presence and a strong position in a key geographic area," O'Neal chairman Craft O'Neal said. "The company is an outstanding addition to our Industrial Metals Group and enhances our overall strength in products such as carbon and stainless plate and bars."

O'Neal Steel is based in Birmingham, Alabama, while Denman & Davis has three locations in the Northeastern US. O'Neal said that David Deinzer, president and CEO of Denman & Davis, will continue to oversee operations at Denman's existing locations.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
