OMZ-Special Steels supplies steel ingot for reactor shell

Russia-based OMZ-Special Steels, part of OMZ group, announced that it has successfully produced a 420 mt bar of 15X2HMFA steel. The ingot will be used in production of reactor shell for the VVER-TOI nuclear power plant project.

OMZ Special Steels stated that this is the first time an ingot of such size will be used in production of a reactor shell. Previous weight record was 360 mt. The reactor was designed by Atomenergoproekt, the main developer for nuclear plant projects.
