Russian pipe producing company United Metallurgical Company (OMK) has stated that in the first half of this year its Casting-Rolling Complex (CRC) increased the production of hot rolled coiled steel by six percent year on year to 530,000 mt. A total of 162,000 mt of strips and 24,000 mt of sheets were manufactured in the period under review.

The increase in production was brought on by the growing consumption of sheets by Vyksa Steel Works' pipe shops, whose production facilities and order volumes have expanded as compared to the previous year.

A wide-scale modernization program is being implemented at the second and third electric weld pipe shops of Vyksa Steel Works (a part of OMK), which will expand the range of the pipes and increase production output. In particular, following the installation of three new highly-productive pipe mills at the second shop, its capacity will grow by almost a third up to 290,000 mt of pipes per year.
