Russia-based pipe producing company United Metallurgical Company (OMK) has stated that it has won a tender for the supply of pipes for the second string of the South Stream offshore pipeline. According to the contract signed by OMK and South StreamTransport B.V. on March 14, 2014, the company will produce over 300 km of large diameter (LD) pipes for the project.

The pipes with a diameter of 813 mm and a wall thickness of 39 mm will be manufactured at Vyksa Steel Works from SAWL 450 steel in conformity with DNV-OS-F101 (2010) standard and South StreamTransport specifications.

The South Stream Pipeline system will connect Russia's gas fields with central and southeastern Europe. The pipeline will run under the Black Sea.
