OMK commissions new foundry and rolling facility

The new foundry and rolling facility of the Russian steel and pipe producer OMK, located in the Vyksa district of the Nijniy Novgorod region, was officially commissioned on October 3, 2008.

The new facility, which was constructed in record time, i.e. in three years and three months, will guarantee stable deliveries of high quality hot rolled coils for the electro-welded workshops of Vyksa Steel Works and for Almetyevsk Pipe Plant.

The production capacity of the first phase of the new facility is 1.5 million mt of hot rolled coils a year. Following the implementation of the second phase of the project, the annual production capacity of the new facility will increase to three million mt. The investment in the first phase of the project amounted to $1.4 billion, while the investment in the second phase is expected to total $600 million.
