October shipments increase at US steel mills

The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported Tuesday that for the month of October 2014, US steel mills shipped 8,508,477 net tons, a 1.6 percent increase from the 8,372,929 net tons shipped in the previous month, September 2014, and a 2.7 percent increase from the 8,287,553 net tons shipped in October 2013. Shipments year-to-date in 2014 are 82,632,250 net tons, a 3.1 percent increase vs. 2013 shipments of 80,186,360 net tons for ten months.

A comparison of October shipments to the previous month of September shows the following changes: cold rolled sheets, up 3.0 percent, hot rolled sheets, up 2.0 percent and hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip, up 1.0 percent.
