In the month of June, Italian domestic scrap prices will continue to fall sharply, as stated by Maurizio Calcinoni, president of the Italian scrap consumers association Nuovo Campsider. Mr. Calcinoni said that the Italian scrap market trend is in line with the trend in the international markets, in particular with the scrap price decreases witnessed both in Europe and in Turkey. In June, production, sales and prices will generally be weak, he said.

In the Italian domestic market, scrap prices had decreased by €5-10/mt at the beginning of May compared to the start of April and had declined by a further €5-10/mt by the end of May, reflecting the decreases seen also in foreign markets.
