Vancouver, Washington-based pipe manufacturer Northwest Pipe Company announced Wednesday plans to expand its Atchison, Kansas pipe manufacturing location.

Currently, Northwest Pipe's Atchison facility operates two pipe mills with a product range of pipe with  3.5 to 16 inches in outside diameter, and wall thickness of up 0.281 inches, but the expansion will increases the facility's production capacity by more than 50 percent, and allow the manufacture of tubular goods with wall thickness of up to 0.375 inches.

"This expansion is an important step forward for our Atchison facility. Being able to produce standard wall pipe products will greatly increase the markets available to us and enhance our ability to serve both our API and ASTM customers," said Rich Roman, CEO Northwest Pipe Company.

The expansion is expected to be completed by Q4 of this year.
