On January 30, Moscow-headquartered Russian miner Norilsk Nickel announced its preliminary consolidated production results for the fourth quarter and full year of 2011.

Accordingly, Norilsk Nickel's overall nickel production in the fourth quarter of 2011 reached 79,600 metric tons, which is mostly in line with the results of the previous quarter. In the whole of 2011, the group's nickel production decreased by 0.8 percent to 295,000 metric tons as compared to 297,000 metric tons in 2010.

In addition, Norilsk Nickel stated that in 2012 it is targeting the production of 235,000-240,000 metric tons of nickel at its Russian divisions and 60,000-65,000 metric tons of nickel at its Norilsk Nickel International operations (in Australia, Botswana, Finland).
