Hong Kong-based Noble Group, a global supply chain manager of agricultural, metals, minerals and ores, and energy products, has concluded a framework agreement for the purchase of steel products from newly founded Azerbaijani steel mill, Ganja Steel Complex.

The agreement was concluded during Ganja Steel Complex's groundbreaking ceremony, which was held on March 3, 2008 in the Azerbaijani city of Ganja.

Ganja Steel Complex is being established by Dashkesan Filizsaflashdirma (DFS), a subsidiary of the Azerbaijani industrial group Det.Al Group of Companies (DETAL). The new mill will be a fully integrated steel complex, which will consist of a concentrator and beneficiation plant, pellet plant, direct reduction iron ore plant and steel meltshop.

The complex will be constructed by Turkish company EKON A.S. with equipment being supplied by Italian plantmaker Danieli.

The mill is expected to start production operations in 2011 and to produce about one million metric tons of billets per year.
