No. 5 blast furnace to be built by Kardemir

On June 22, Turkish steelmaker Kardemir announced that it has decided to carry out all necessary works to build a No. 5 blast furnace and slab casting unit.
 
On April 16 this year, Kardemir recommissioned its No. 1 blast furnace after modernization, increasing its total blast furnace capacity to 1.8 million mt per year.
 
No further details about the capacity of the planned new furnace or the amount of the investment have been revealed by the company.
