NMDC sees slight growth in iron ore output for April-May

India's state-owned miner National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) has announced that in April-May this year it produced 4.94 million mt of iron ore, registering an increase of 0.8 percent compared to the same period of 2013. The company's iron ore sales amounted to 5.65 million mt, up 11.2 percent year on year.
 
In the first two months ended May 31 of the current financial year, NMDC's iron ore output from its Karnataka mines remained unchanged at 1.38 million mt, while the iron ore output from its Chhattisgarh mines stood at 3.56 million mt, up 1.13 percent, year on year.
