On July 25,
Russia's largest grain-oriented electrical steel producer VIZ-Stal, a subsidiary of Russian steelmaker
NLMK Group, announced that it will expand its grain-oriented (GO) steel
production capacities by 40 percent up to 240,000 mt, as a result of the commissioning of a reversing cold rolling mill with a designed annual capacity of 75,000 mt.
The project is worth Ruble 1.4 billion ($50.4 million) and constitutes the main stage in establishing a process route for the
production of premium-quality GO high-permeability steel (HPS). The mill is expected to be put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2011. The project is being implemented jointly with Austria-based plantmaker Andritz-Sundwig.
