Russian steelmaker NLMK Group has announced that the pelletizing plant of its iron ore subsidiary Stoilensky has produced its three millionth metric ton of pellets. Launched in November 2016, the pelletizing plant has a designed capacity of six million mt of pellets per year.

Stoilensky general director Sergey Napolskikh stated that the three millionth metric ton of pellets produced in around six months is an important milestone for Stoilensky and achieving all its set goals will enable the plant to ensure NLMK’s control over raw material costs.

According to NLMK’s statement, the launch of the plant, which is of strategic importance for NLMK, enabled the company to consolidate its position as one of the most efficient steelmakers in the world by supplying its blast furnaces with low cost captive raw materials.
