The Russian steelmaker Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) has announced the recommissioning of its 3.7 million mt per year sinter machine No. 3, after the completion of maintenance works.

The overhaul of NLMK's sinter machine included the modification of its iron ore raw materials charging system, the installation of additional equipment and the extension of its operating area. This will allow NLMK to accelerate the sintering process, to improve the sinter quality and to lower the environmental impact.

After the maintenance works in question, NLMK will be able to increase blast furnace raw materials production by 75,000 mt per year.

The project is in line with the second phase of NLMK's Technical Upgrade Program for 2007-2011.
