NLMK recognized as Russia’s best steel exporter in 2009

The Russian steel producer Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) has announced that it has won the Best Exporter of 2009 contest organized for the domestic iron and steel sector by the Russian Federation's Ministry for Industry.

In 2009, NLMK (its main production site in Lipetsk) sold 8.4 million mt of steel products, of which 77 percent or 6.5 million mt were directed to exports - up 16 percent year on year. NLMK's steel products were exported to 57 countries. The main volume of its exports was delivered to countries from Southeast Asia and the European Union, accounting for 40 and 28 percent respectively of the company's total shipped volumes. In the Middle East and Turkey, NLMK supplied 24 percent of its exports to the Middle East and Turkey combined, while it shipped four percent of its exports to North America. NLMK's total revenue from its exports reached $2.5 billion in 2009.
