NLMK Kaluga, a subsidiary of Russian steelmaker NLMK Group and producer of long steel products for construction, has announced that it has produced its two millionth mt of finished steel since it went into production in July 2013. The mill produced its three millionth mt of crude steel in its EAF shop earlier in June this year.

NLMK Kaluga’s CEO Sergey Shalyaev stated that the launch of NLMK Kaluga has reduced the shortage of long products in the central federal district of Russia and covered the demand from the domestic construction industry for high-quality steel products. In 2015, NLMK Kaluga's share of the rebar market in Russia exceeded nine percent, while its share in the central federal district was about 20 percent.

Meanwhile, in 2015, NLMK Kaluga obtained its DIN 488 certificate which created new market opportunities for the company. The certificate allows the use of NLMK Kaluga rebar in the EU construction industry. In the current year, NLMK Kaluga's rebar was also certified for sale to Lithuania and Belarus.
