Russian steelmaker
NLMK announced that its
US-based subsidiary
NLMK Indiana broke all-time
production records in the first 10 months this year.
During the January-October period,
NLMK Indiana produced over 617,000 mt of slabs and over 586,000 mt of hot rolled coils, exceeding the previous records established at 610,000 mt of slabs and 584,000 mt of
HRC in the first 10 months of 2011. Operations in November and December will allow
NLMK Indiana to exceed the record by more than 15 percent in 2012, with over 700,000 mt.
NLMK attributed the record output levels to the increased efficiencies, improved product line, a deeper market presence, and getting exposure to growing markets such as for high carbon and oil country tubular goods (OCTG) product lines.
In the fourth quarter of the current year and in 2013,
NLMK Indiana will commission new equipment for its electric arc furnace, steel casting and rolling operations.
NLMK Indiana operates an electric arc furnace melt shop that produces continuous cast steel slabs and a hot strip rolling mill for processing slabs into flat rolled steel products, specializing in the
production and sale of hot rolled coils primarily to pipe and tube manufacturers and steel processors.
