Leading Russian steel producer NLMK Group has announced that in 2014 it successfully improved the level of off-gas treatment to a record 98.7 percent and reduced air emissions down to 22.09 kg/mt at its main production site in Lipetsk (Novolipetsk) as its environmental program for the period up to 2020 gains momentum.

The decrease in emissions in 2014 from 22.3 kg to 22.09 kg per metric ton of steel was achieved in parallel to a steel output of 12.56 million mt - a record in the 80 years of NLMK's history. New performance records have been set for every production stage at Novolipetsk.

The company has invested over RUB 25 billion in environmental initiatives since 2000, almost halving its key atmospheric impact figures and swiftly approaching the best available technologies.
