Russia-based steelmaker Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) has announced that it has commissioned a new 2 million mt per year ladle furnace at its main production site in Lipetsk as a part of stage two of NLMK's technical upgrade program being carried out together with Austria-based plantmaker Siemens VAI.

This new furnace will enable NLMK to expand its product mix and improve quality, while an advanced fume extraction and gas cleaning system at the facility will ensure excellent environmental performance. Waste gas dust removal is 99.5 percent efficient.

NLMK also stated that the project will increase output by 200,000 mt per year.
