The Russian steelmaker Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) has applied to the Russian Federation's Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) to clear its acquisition of fellow Russian steel producer Maxi-Group.

Although NLMK originally agreed to buy 50 percent plus one share in Maxi-Group, the company has now asked FAS for a 100 percent buyout clearance, thus reserving the right to increase its stake in Maxi-Group.
