Nippon Steel & Sumikin Stainless hikes SS sheet price

Nippon Steel & Sumikin Stainless Corp (NSSC), Japan's largest stainless steel producer, increased sales prices of its nickel series stainless cold rolled sheet and plate products by Yen 30,000/mt ($261/mt) for domestic distributors for June orders due to rising nickel prices. Accordingly, the price of 304-series cold rolled sheets increased to Yen 365,000/mt ($3,183/mt) including alloy surcharge. With this price increase, the price of cold sheets has increased by Yen 75,000/mt ($654/mt) in the last six months. The firm left the price of chrome series stainless products unchanged. Nippon Steel Corp holds an 80 percent stake in NSSC, while the remaining 20 percent is held by Sumitomo Metal Industries Ltd.
