Ningbo Baoxin commissions Phase-4

Although the company has not made a formal announcement yet, it is suspected that Ningbo Baoxin has moved into the hot commissioning stage of its Phase-4 stainless steel project. With annual designed productivity of 380’000 tons, Ningbo Baoxin’s Phase-4 is scheduled to begin formal operation in September 2005. Phase-4 will bring the total stainless steel productivity of Ningbo Baoxin to 600’000 tons. Ningbo Baoxin is a joint venture established by Japan’s Nisshin Steel and Shanghai-based Baosteel Group Corporation, China's largest steel manufacturer. The joint venture has grown steadily since it commenced operations in 1998, achieving profitability in 2000.
