Union Iron and Steel Mill, the newly acquired rebar rolling facility of one of the leading steel manufacturers in Saudi Arabia, United Gulf Steel (UGS), will predominantly target the domestic market of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

A representative of UGS commented to SteelOrbis that although the pricing factor will also be determining as the company is not averse to pricing opportunities, the Abu Dhabi-based facility shall be producing a very small quantity compared to the needs of the domestic market, and so shall be focusing on the UAE market.

At the end of July, UGS acquired Abu Dhabi-located Union Iron and Steel Mill, its first ever foreign-based production facility. The mill has an annual production capacity of 350,000 mt of rebar in sizes of 8 mm to 32 mm. The mill sources its billets from the international market.
