New orders in German construction industry down 8.3% in Nov

As reported by the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the total price-adjusted value of orders received by building construction and civil and underground engineering enterprises in Germany decreased by 8.3 percent in November 2012, compared to the same month of the previous year.

In November, building construction demand decreased by 7.8 percent, while demand in civil and underground engineering was down by 8.7 percent, both on year-on-year basis. The total turnover in building construction amounted in November last year to around €9.7 billion, indicating a decrease of 1.5 percent compared to November 2011.

Meanwhile, in the first 11 months of last year the total price-adjusted value of orders in the construction industry increased by 5.1 percent over the corresponding period of the previous year. In January-November, the total turnover of the German construction industry amounted to approximately €85.3 billion, with an increase of 1.6 percent from the same period of 2011.
