New motor vehicle registrations in Turkey up 74.4% in Jan over Dec

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in January this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey amounted to 125,951 units, increasing by 74.4 percent month on month and down 20 percent year on year. In December, new registrations decreased by 15.1 percent month on month and by 23.1 percent year on year.

New passenger car registrations in January totaled 75,580 units, increasing by 91.6 percent as compared to the previous month and down 17.8 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 60 percent of total registrations. Small truck registrations in January, on the other hand, increased by 115.7 percent month on month and were down 29.9 percent year on year, amounting to 30,643 units. Small truck registrations constituted 24.3 percent of total registrations.
