New motor vehicle registrations in Turkey up 5.81% in 2013

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in December last year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey increased by 13.5 percent year on year to 81,911 units, down 13.8 percent on month-on-month basis. In the whole of last year, new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey totaled 1,131,390 units, rising 5.81 percent compared to 2012.

New passenger car registrations in Turkey last year totaled 654,905 units, increasing by 15.75 percent as compared to 2012. Passenger cars accounted for 58 percent of total new motor vehicle registrations in 2013.

On the other hand, new small truck registrations in 2013 decreased by 16.97 year on year to 164,102 units. Small truck registrations constituted 15 percent of total new registrations in 2013.
