New motor vehicle registrations in Turkey up 4.2% in Sept over Aug

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in September this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey decreased by 3.8 percent year on year to 91,553 units and increased by 4.2 percent on month-on-month basis. In the January-September period of this year, new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey totaled 764,417 units, decreasing by 13.1 percent compared to the same period of 2013.

New passenger car registrations in September this year totaled 46,176 units, increasing by 5.2 percent as compared to August but down 10.9 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 50 percent of total new motor vehicle registrations in the given month.

On the other hand, new small truck registrations in September increased by 4.1 percent month on month and were up 12.1 percent year on year, amounting to 13,134 units. Small truck registrations constituted 14 percent of total new registrations in September.
