According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in January this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey increased by 15.9 percent year on year to 128,648 units and were up by 26.9 percent on month-on-month basis.
New passenger car registrations in January this year totaled 84,626 units, increasing by 29 percent as compared to December and up 23.6 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 65.8 percent of total new motor vehicle registrations in the given month.
On the other hand, new small truck registrations in January increased by 85.6 percent month on month and were up 14.3 percent year on year, amounting to 28,752 units. Small truck registrations constituted 22.3 percent of total new registrations in January this year.
