According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in April this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey decreased by 22.5 percent year on year to 77,027 units, up 19.7 percent on month-on-month basis. In the first four months of this year, new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey totaled 317,922 units, decreasing by 14.4 percent compared to the same period of 2013.
New passenger car registrations in April this year totaled 40,588 units, increasing by 14.1 percent as compared to March and down 26.6 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 53 percent of total new motor vehicle registrations in the given month.
On the other hand, new small truck registrations in April increased by 11.2 percent month on month and were down 38.6 percent year on year, amounting to 8,942 units. Small truck registrations constituted 11.6 percent of total new registrations in April.
