New motor vehicle registrations in Turkey down 18.2% in July

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in July this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey decreased by 18.2 percent year on year to 109,487 units, up 46.8 percent on month-on-month basis. In the January-July period of this year, new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey totaled 584,979 units, decreasing by 16.2 percent compared to the same period of 2013.

New passenger car registrations in July this year totaled 62,840 units, increasing by 65.7 percent as compared to June and down 17.6 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 57 percent of total new motor vehicle registrations in the given month.

On the other hand, new small truck registrations in July increased by 86.7 percent month on month and were down 21.9 percent year on year, amounting to 13,985 units. Small truck registrations constituted 13 percent of total new registrations in July.
