New motor vehicle registrations in Turkey down 11.5% in Q1

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in March this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey decreased by 27.2 percent year on year to 64,364 units, up 23.2 percent on month-on-month basis. In the first quarter this year, new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey totaled 240,895 units, decreasing by 11.47 percent compared to the same period of 2013.

New passenger car registrations in March this year totaled 35,564 units, increasing by 26.2 percent as compared to February and down 30.8 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 55 percent of total new motor vehicle registrations in the given month.

On the other hand, new small truck registrations in March increased by 10.4 percent month on month and were down 39.5 percent year on year, amounting to 8,039 units. Small truck registrations constituted 12.5 percent of total new registrations in March.
