New industrial orders in EU-27 rise by 0.9 percent in May

According to a statement released on July 22 by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, new industrial orders in the European Union member states (EU-27) rose by 0.9 percent month on month in May, after a month-on-month decrease of 1.7 percent in April

In May this year, news industrial orders in the EU-27 excluding ships, railway and aerospace equipment, for which changes tend to be more volatile, increased by 0.4 percent month on month.

However, on a year-on-year basis, overall new industrial orders in May this year in the EU-27 decreased by 28 percent, while for the same month new industrial orders excluding ships, railway and aerospace equipment dropped by 29.0 percent.

In the EU-27 in May, new orders for capital goods grew by 1.1 percent, new orders climbed by one percent for non-durable consumer goods, rose by 0.3 percent for intermediate goods and fell by 0.5 percent for durable consumer goods.
