New car sales rise 39 percent in Russia in 2011

Sales of new cars in Russia in 2011 increased by 39 percent year on year to 2.65 million units, according to the data released by the Moscow-based Association of European Businesses (AEB).

The new car sales volume exceeded the 2.6 million vehicles previously predicted to be sold in Russia in 2011.

The AEB expects continued growth in the Russian car market in 2012, but at a slower rate of 12 percent year on year, with new car sales reaching 2.8 million units.
