Nanjing Steel posts 89.48 percent fall in net profit for H1 2009

According to the H1 2009 report issued by Nanjing Steel, the company's sales revenues amounted to RMB 10.508 billion ($1.54 billion) for the first six months this year, down 29.12 percent year on year; meanwhile its net profit in H1 2009 reached RMB 55.56 million ($8.13 million), sharply down by 89.48 percent.

In the January-June period, Nanjing Steel produced 2.6486 million mt of crude steel and 2.1352 million mt of finished steel, down 1.48 percent and 7.55 percent respectively year on year, with pig iron production up by 7.93 percent to 2.9157 million mt.
