More layoffs possible for US Steel Fairfield

According to local media Friday, employees at US Steel’s Fairfield, Alabama operations expect more work force cuts after United Steelworkers Local 1013 informed workers about an informational meeting regarding potential layoffs.

US Steel has laid off 731 employees at the Fairfield plants since the end of March, after the company informed the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs that all 1,598 employees at the facilities could be affected.
