Australian Securities Exchange (ASX)-listed miner Moly Mines Limited has announced that it has awarded a five-year crushing contract to Perth, Australia-based Rapid Crushing and Screening Pty Ltd (RC&S) for the Spinifex Ridge iron ore project in Pilbara, Western Australia

The RC&S circuit has the capacity to expand throughput to 1.3 million mt per annum with no additional capital. The plant will be mobilized to site to commence crushing in the second half of October. This continues the planned schedule of contract awards required to meet the first shipment date for the Spinifex Ridge by early December 2010.

Mining is expected to commence in September this year and transportation is expected to start in the first week of November.

The mine will have an annual production rate of 800,000-1 million mt and total reserves of 7.3 million mt at 59 percent Fe.
