MMZ issues September production results

Moldavian Metallurgical Plant (MMZ) has released its production results for the month of September, 2008.

Accordingly, during the given period the mill produced 59,048 mt of crude steel and 72,533 mt of rolled steel products, exceeding its production targets for the month in question by 2.33 percent and 0.44 percent respectively.

The mill's September sales amounted to 71,764 mt of steel products, of which 36,810 mt consisted of rebar and 34,769 mt of wire rod.

On October 1, MMZ's reserves of metal charge amounted to 123,963 mt.

Moreover, in September MMZ had a 16-day repair of its oxygen compressor plant and an eight-day major overhaul at its electro-steelmaking shop and its production preparation shop. The scope of the repair works included major upgrading of the electric arc furnace, the continuous casting machine and the ladle furnace installation.
