The Russian steel producer Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has announced that it is continuing the construction of its new cold rolling complex with a new two million mt per year capacity cold rolling mill 2000 at its cold rolling shop No. 11. The first stage of the complex, i.e., the continuous pickling line combined with the cold rolling mill, is scheduled to be commissioned in July 2011.
As SteelOrbis previously reported, MMK's new cold rolling complex is designed for the production of high quality cold rolled and galvanized steel, primarily for the auto industry as well as for producers of household appliances and for the construction sector.
The new cold rolling shop No. 11 will include a continuous pickling line for turbulent pickling in hydrochloric acid combined with a cold rolling mill with a capacity of 2.1 million mt per year, a hot galvanizing unit with a capacity of 450,000 mt per year, and a combined continuous annealing/hot dip galvanizing unit with a capacity of 650,000 mt per year.
