MMK posts strong production results for Jan-Sep
During the January-September 2006 period, Russian steelmaker Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) increased agglomerate production by 9.7 percent, raised coke production by 1.6 percent, raised pig iron production by 4.8 percent, and increased crude steel and finished steel products by 9.5 percent and 11.1 percent respectively year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 8.2 million, 4.2 million, 7.2 million, 9.2 million and 8.5 million. However, in the period in question, the enterprise showed a 7.6 percent decrease in its iron ore production to 1.07 million metric tons. In September alone, MMK produced 136,800 metric tons of iron ore, 900,500 metric tons of agglomerate, 459,700 metric tons of coke, 819,400 metric tons of pig iron, 1.09 million metric tons of crude steel and 1 million metric tons of finished steel products.
