Russian steel producer Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has announced that it has successfully tested the production technology of steel plates with a thickness of 1.2 mm.

In the near future, the mill intends to produce pilot batches of rolled metal with thickness of 2 mm. They will be delivered to customers for internal testing and subsequent use of the material in the development of new vehicle design.

Also, the company plans to develop cold rolled and galvanized rolled steel of NST600H grade (DP-high-strength steel). These products are primarily intended for the strengthening of car frames. In addition, the company plans to master steel of strength grade DP1000, as well as prospective TRIP steel grades.
