The Russian steelmaker Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has issued its production results for January-September 2007.
Accordingly, during the period in question, MMK produced 7.427 million metric tons of pig iron - down 3.1 percent, 9.187 million metric tons of crude steel - up 8.1 percent, and 8.352 million metric tons of rolled steel products - 8.9 percent, all compared to the corresponding period of 2006.
According to different product groups, in the January - September 2007 period, MMK increased its slab production by 467,000 metric tons to 588,000 metric tons, its long products output by 136,000 metric tons to1.384 million metric tons, its HR steel output by 349,000 metric tons to 4.843 million metric tons and its pre-painted galvanized steel products output by 15,000 metric tons to 137,000 metric tons year on year.
However, during the given period MMK reduced its CR steel output by 139,000 metric tons to 1.154 million metric tons and its galvanized steel by 20,000 metric tons to 318,000 metric tons.
Commenting on the production results, MMK stated that the decease in the production of several production groups during the first nine months of 2007 occurred due to scheduled modernization and reconstruction of the mill's main production capacities.
