MMK increases steel shipments to automotive industry in 2016

Russian steelmaker MMK Group has announced that in 2016 it increased steel shipments to the automotive industry by 12.6 percent year on year to 473,000 mt. In the given year, the share of automotive sheet sales in MMK’s overall domestic sales structure grew to 6.5 percent from six percent in the previous year. 

Sales to foreign car makers that have assembly plants in Russia in 2016 rose by 34.5 percent to 26,900 mt, compared to 20,000 mt recorded in 2015. MMK stated that, since 2013, shipments to international automotive corporations that have production facilities in Russia increased more than fourfold. In the current year, MMK plans to significantly increase its steel shipments to car makers in Russia.
