Russian steel producer Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has announced that it has increased its supply to the foreign automobile industry in Russia in the current year. MMK’s overall galvanized and cold rolled steel deliveries to all car manufacturers operating in Russia amounted to 405,000 mt in 2014 and 278,000 mt for the first eight months of 2015.
MMK stated that over the next ten years it intends to become a leading provider for the automotive industry in the domestic market, as well as a key supplier to the three top manufacturers of foreign brands in Russia. As noted in the company's development strategy for the period up to 2025, MMK plans to achieve this goal by improving customer support further, expanding the range of high quality products, advancing the development of marketing and improving information technologies infrastructure for customers.
Overall, for the needs of the automotive industry MMK has mastered the production more than 50 different grades of steel in line with European standards.
