MMK Group’s crude steel output declines in 2013

In the fourth quarter of 2013, the crude steel production of Russian steelmaker MMK Group totaled 2.91 million mt, up 1.4 percent compared to the third quarter of the year, while its crude steel output in 2013 amounted to 11.9 million mt, down 8.4 percent year on year, as announced by the company.
 
MMK Group's finished steel product output in the fourth quarter totaled 2.72 million mt, up 3.1 percent quarter on quarter, while finished steel product output during the whole year amounted to 11.06 million mt, down 7.9 percent year on year.
 
MMK Group's high value-added (HVA) steel product output in the last quarter of 2013 increased by three percent quarter on quarter to 1.31 million mt. The share of HVA production in MMK Group's total steel product output in the given quarter stayed stable at 48.5 percent. MMK Group's HVA steel product output in 2013 increased by 9.3 percent year on year to 5.33 million mt.
 
During 2013, MMK's cast iron production decreased by 5.3 percent to 9.58 million mt, its long steel product output increased by 4.3 percent to 1.81 million mt and its flat hot rolled product output decreased by 14.8 percent to 4.64 million mt - all on year-on-year basis.

According to MMK, the recovery of demand in the domestic and exports markets in the first quarter of 2014 is likely to lead to higher production and sales of finished steel goods as compared to the previous quarter.
