Russian steelmaker MMK Group has announced that it plans to complete 87 environmental initiatives in the current year with total investments estimated at around RUB 5.6 billion ($98.3 million) under its Environmental Program.
According to MMK’s statement, environmental initiatives this year will cover all of the group’s production facilities and subsidiaries. An estimated RUB 5.26 billion ($92.1 million) will be invested in 69 initiatives at the Magnitogorsk facility, while the remaining RUB 325 million ($5.69 million) will be directed to its subsidiaries.
In addition, over RUB 1 billion ($17.52 million) will be invested in new environmental facilities, including the construction of a new sinter plant and continuous hot dip galvanizing lines at its metal-coating shop No. 3 at rolling mill No. 11.
