Mechel, one of the leading Russian mining and steel groups, has announced reports that work has been temporarily halted at several facilities at its New-Olzherassk coal mine, which is part of its subsidiary Southern Kuzbass Coal Company.

As a result of the inspection conducted by the Mezhdurechensk territorial branch of the Southern Siberian monitoring agency, mining at New-Olzherassk mine was suspended by order of the Mezhdurechensk city court.

Mechel stated that mining will resume shortly at all facilities at New-Olzherassk coal mine, adding that, since production at the mine has been continuing ahead of schedule, the temporary halt will not affect Southern Kuzbass Coal Company's operational commitments.
