Grand Rapids, Michigan-based flat-rolled steel service center, Mill Steel Co., announced Monday that it has expanded a few of its facilities and operations.

On October 1, Mill Steel expanded its distribution operations to include a 50,500 square foot (4,692 square meters) facility in Louisville, Kentucky to more efficiently distribute painted and acrylic flat-rolled steel to its mid-Atlantic and Midwest customers. The Kentucky expansion is expected to serve the company's automotive, appliance, tubing and general fabrication customers.

Additionally, Mill Steel has expanded its Birmingham, Alabama processing and distribution operations by establishing a 55,000 square foot (4,645 square meters) addition adjacent to its current 121,000 square foot (11,241 square meters) Birmingham processing operation.

Mill Steel's expansions also include increasing its Grand Rapids office by 5,000 square feet (464 square meters) which will allow space for the additional workers the company intends on hiring.
