MIIT: China’s steel and automotive industry policies to be revised in 2011

According to a statement issued by China's Ministry of Industry and Information (MIIT) on December 25, China's steel and automotive industry policies will be revised by the central government in 2011, with these policies to be coordinated with the central government policies on finance, investment and taxation.

The MIIT also indicated that in 2011 restructuring in the steel industry will be accelerated and that the MIIT will increase the focus on technological upgrading, technical innovation, energy conservation and emissions reduction. In addition, the MIIT will focus on the development of the mining, smelting, processing and export of rare metals and also on the development of the coking industry.
