MIIT: China’s shipbuilding output increases by 6.3 percent in H1

In the first six months of the current year, the aggregate shipbuilding output in China amounted to 18.53 million deadweight tons (dwt), up 6.3 percent year on year, as announced by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on July 13. In the January-June period, China’s new ship orders amounted to 11.19 million dwt, down 72.6 percent year on year.

As of the end of June, ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 138.07 million dwt, decreasing by 9.2 percent year on year.
